Life Drawing / Photography Sessions – Summer 2017

Take a field trip and make some art!

LHES teacher and amateur artist Lisa Galloway will organize and help take photos, draw “en plein air” (outside) and explore the drawing media and subjects found there. Based on participants’ wishes, and weather, we’ll carpool to a different location each time we meet – desert, forest, beach and/or the human-made environment. Lisa will guide activities that reduce the stress and challenges of drawing, and increase your fun and confidence!

Participants must be 14 years or older.  Class size will be no more than ten people!

Each session will meet at 3pm at the high school art room. Sessions will be every Sunday in June (the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th).

This is a non-profit event, so the fees will provide participants with the drawing materials they need, and a chance to matt, mount and/or frame their best artworks for exhibit at the LAC gallery.  Participants must have their own camera, and a sketchbook is recommended.

$15 per session for LAC members, $25 per session for non-LAC members
Full payment is due no later than June 4th. To sign up please go here.

Contact Lisa at lisa.on.lanai@gmail.com or leave her a message at the Lanai Art Center.  Call 565-7503 or drop by!

Besides the fact the arts encourage joyful, active learning, the arts help us to understand and express abstract concepts, and stimulates higher level thinking. Please help support the Arts!

Life Drawing Session – Winter 2017

LHS art teacher Lisa Galloway will host the winter sessions of “live” drawings. Amateur and experienced artists can gather together to draw people and/or objects that are “live” in front of them to improve their skills and create new artworks. Artists stand at easels and use a variety of paper and drawing materials like graphite, charcoal, and chalk pastels to draw a model or “still life” objects in front of them. A clothed model starts with many short poses then does a couple of long poses. After the model poses for 90 minutes, the artists may stay for up to 30 more minutes to finish their work and clean up.

Sessions will be held Thursdays,  4 – 6 PM,  Jan 19, Jan 26, Feb 2, and Feb 9 at LHS art room T104.

If this is your first time, come to the first session 15 minutes early to talk with the instructor and get comfortable. Don’t expect to become an expert in a few hours, but do expect to see your abilities improve as you continue!

Cost is $20 for LAC members, $50 for non-members. All materials are included.

For more information, please contact the Art Center.
