Primo Bolo III - Grade 11
My experience at the Academy of Arts Museum was amazing. It was a great privilege to be able to get an exclusive backstage look of the art show "One Way or Another" and to be able to go underground into the vault and see all the paintings that everyone wants to see but cannot. I was thrilled to hear what inspired the artists that we met up with and their experiences also inspired me. I'm glad I was given that wonderful opportunity to be there and I will most definitely return again. I plan to be a professional photographer and this experience broadened what I have already learned and opened many doors of thinking for me. Thank you so much to the people who donated money so we could go.

Frame of Trees
Alika Batoon - Grade 4
The lady Kita who took us around the first museum was really nice and smart and it was so cool to get taken behind the scene. The artists we met, Michael and Jean, were friendly and smart and I liked the boat a lot. Lunch at the Café was the BOMB. After dessert we went to another art museum. I liked best when we got to touch things, like the big boat.

Best Lana'i Fishing Spot at the Harbor

Kisha Kala - Grade 6
I had a great experience going to the museums. My favorite artwork was the pig because it was a real-looking pig and it had a leather piece that was sewed onto the pig. My other favorite art work was the boat because it was like Noah's ark and it had a lot of details and I really liked how the artist put different types of animals inside the boat that was hanging on a piece of string. I had a great time coming to Oahu. It was really, really worth it. And I think the people who donated money for us to go, they really helped me to see all types of texture, depth and colors and how art can be flat, circles or almost real.

Red Rock at Tide Pool

Jordynn Waite - Grade 6
My favorite thing about our tour was that my eyes got to see so much, especially in the vault and all the lovely paintings there. My very favorite was the picture by Monet. My favorite artist that we met was the man that built the special Noah's Ark boat with all the animals, but the lady with the sweaters had the most connecting idea. The people who gave money for this helped me see that painting is much more than I thought it was, and also that art isn't just paintings.

Sweetheart Rock
Kekoa Biho - Grade 4
My experience was when we pulled up at Oahu and got to ride on the Dollar bus to get our car after a cool airplane ride. We went to the Academy and got to talk to people who worked there and two artists who really neat stuff on the walls and the ceiling. I really liked going where people don't usually get to go and to see the special paintings in the super vault. The people who gave money for this did a good thing. It made me like art even more and I can't wait to get home so I can start drawing more.
